Choose a couple of “From 65″s – what have you done, what are you thinking of doing? What has worked for you, what has not worked for you?

Welcome if you have come to try out The Elders Journey. I hope that you will benefit greatly from the opportunity to think about your retirement in a structured way – and I hope you have fun doing it.
The value in using the Discussion Forums is that you have a chance to talk to others who are starting to plan their retirement (and old age).

Neck wrinkles and comb overs – I’m as vain as ever but I’m trying to resist the comb over. I’m finding the Hipsters a lot of fun and they give me an excuse to dress in a way that I have never done. I’m enjoying a bit of “flash”.
Fitness is a challenge – I do a round of exercises every morning and I’m finding my balance is getting poorer. I can still balance on one foot, but I have to concentrate hard.

To walk the Camino is on my bucket list

Hello Pam, I was very lucky just after I finished university. I was hitch-hiking around Europe and made my way along the north coast of Spain – and arrived in Santiago. Only then did I discover that I had been on the Camino.

What a wonderful experience to have been able to enjoy the adventure. Could you share something of your favorite places you visited.

Hi Alan, I hope you are well. 65 arrived for me on 24 January this year. A bit of an anti-climax as in many ways, other than for normal wear and tear, 65 feels like 55! I am still working and enjoy reasonable health. Must say that having passed this milestone a sense of calm has come over me, an acceptance of who I am and cautious optimism about the future. I have always been a serious kind of guy but hope to become a little more eccentric as the years role on. Perhaps I should start wearing braces and a flat cap! I always enjoy meeting eccentric characters.
I decided that its too early to make a bucket list but in the medium-term I still want to get my knee down around Riooiels on my motorcycle, commence the book that I have bubbling inside me and find creative expression at work and at home. I have been married to Fran for 42 years now and still can’t enjoy a siesta on a Sunday afternoon. She says I can sleep when I’m dead! Anyway good to be on your blog and hoping to achieve elder status some time soon.
Take care everybody.
